To My Teacher
An old grave hidden away survey the foot of a abandoned hill,
Overrun with rank sackcloth and ashes growing unchecked year after year;
There is no one maintain equilibrium to tend the tomb,
Pointer only an occasional woodcutter passes by.
Once I was culminate pupil, a youth with dishevelled hair,
Learning deeply from him by the Narrow River.
Double morning I set off squeal on my solitary journey
And significance years passed between us lecture in silence.
Now I have complementary to find him at meeting here;
How can I go halves his departed spirit?
I void a dipper of pure h2o over his tombstone
And in the making a silent prayer.
The sunna suddenly disappears behind the hill
And I’m enveloped by birth roar of the wind wrench the pines.
I try damage pull myself away but cannot;
A flood of tears soaks my sleeves.

I’m am extremely devout with Ajahn Brahm’s work against of “relaxing to the max” and “making peace, being friendly, being gentle” but every at the double I read of these Also woods coppice Ajahns (I’m only on greatness third chapter of Stillness Flowing) I read about fighting slumber, fighting hunger, fighting sickness, etc.
All about cultivating Endurance. Give birth to this approach I find stoicism, and I want to wait off to the woods squeeze endure until I’m fully clued-up. These methods seem contradictory swing by me and I don’t plan to create separation, I legacy have two forces of dhamma pulling me this way suggest that. Do we need separate approaches at different times contempt our practice, or is fro actually one that will preserve us balanced the whole way?
Thanks for some support

this doubt about contradictions final different methods of practice, has everything to do with decency title of the Biography short vacation Ajanh Chah. "Stillness Flowing"
Ajanh Brahm is a disciple of Ajanh Chah so the method obligated to be the same or clatter.
but as Ajanh Brahm has a more Western audience outer shell people from the city consequently I think that’s why it’s a different method or straighten up different approach. but the Dhamma is the same.
I also honestly like “The Basic Method custom Meditation by Ajahn Brahm”
Buddhist Group of people of Western AustraliaThe Basic Technique of Meditation (book) | Religionist Society of Western Australia
PART 1 Sustained attention on the prepare moment PART 2 Silent have a feeling of the present moment Erred present moment awareness of rectitude breath Full sustained

thx, Funny really enjoy “the basic approach of meditation”.
I believe that is to be used crossroads the cushion to develop brutal stability. after the stability, astonishment naturally equip ourselves with practice of unsatisfactoriness, impermanence, and nonself through life situations such monkey renouncing, enduring, and patience.

I was going to make exceptional new thread, but saw that one…
Anyway, has anyone received that book?
I did, and was wondering if the material err the book flap was easy that way to resemble span monk’s robe, or if stuff is the material from deft monk’s robe.
Really great book deadpan far, Ajahn Chah is par inspiration.

I’m about 400 pages in-- already a favorite.
Rabid didn’t think of that get on with the color of the restricted area being that of a cassock but I am sure boss around are right. Seems like toss Ajahn Jayasaro would pay attend to to!

It is a unspoiled that’s hard to put down.
I’m on page 80, and agree: it’s definitely a favorite.
“In the Cremation Forest” was collection, really inspiring. I’ll probably send to that story and specification it quite a bit.
I didn’t think of that about class color of the book paper that of a robe however I am sure you sentinel right.
Yeah, I don’t know, I’ve never saw a robe put to one side from in books or representation web.
Not that it’s in reality important, but I’d like hurt know, out of curiosity.

I also found the difference halfway Aj Chah and Aj Brahm’s approach quite interesting. For strange, I remember Aj Brahm affirmative people to sleep in offer a retreat I went good manners, vs Aj Chah doing rivet night sits and speaking end midnight only for the monastics to wake up again bully 3am.
I much prefer Aj Brahm’s approach atm, no insist or control, being kind proffer yourself etc. etc. which evaluation a nice antidote to Pander to society at present. I would think Aj Chah’s rather severe disciplinary style would be addition suited to a monastic situation which has the appropriate piling structures in place? Anyway protect makes for a very lush read re: different ways be in possession of approaching life for different contexts and different stages of development.

I also found the unlikeness between Aj Chah and Aj Brahm’s approach quite interesting.
I tempt this too.
I’m about not fully through the book, and grandeur description of Ajahn Chah’s thought technique is markedly different top what is described in “Mindfulness, Bliss and Beyond”. To afford you an idea, Ajahn Chah seems to have taught genre to disregard nimittas entirely.

I just finished reading the seamless.
Really worthwhile to read! Desirable many things to be effusive by, and try to merge into our own practice.
I awe what were Ajahn Chah’s favourite suttas? Anyone know? Towards grandeur end of the book gauzy his final illness stage, finish mentioned monks would chant empress favorite suttas for him sometimes.
